METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION
.................................

1. Description of the methods for collection/generation of data:

- The DPPH (2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrasyl) free-radical scavenging assay was carried out according to the method of Brand-Williams et al. (1995) ( Brand-Williams, W., Cuvelier, M.E., Berset, C., 1995. Use of a free radical method to evaluate antioxidant activity. LWT Food Sci. Technol. 28, 25e30)
- The analysis of phenolic compounds was carried out using the spectrophotometric Folin–Ciocalteu method based on (Folin, O.; Ciocalteu, V. On tyrosine and tryptophane determinations in proteins. J. Biol. Chem. 1927, 73, 627–650)
- Antioxidant capacity was determined by the ABTS radical scavenging assay (Re, R.; Pellegrini, N.; Proteggente, A.; Pannala, A.; Yang, M.; Rice-Evans, C. Antioxidant activity applying an improved ABTS radical cation decolorization assay. Free Radic. Biol. Med. 1999, 26, 1231–1237)
-The analysis of soluble proteins was carried out using the spectrophotometric Bradford method based on (Bradford, M.M. A rapid and sensitive method for the quantitation of microgram quantities of protein utilizing the principle of protein-dye binding. Anal. Biochem. 1976, 72, 248–254)
- The analysis of carbohydrates was carried out using the spectrophotometric method based on (Umbreit, W.W.; Burris, R.H. Method for glucose determination and other sugars. In Manometric Techniques, 1st ed.; Burgess Publishing Co.: Minneapolis, MN, USA, 1964; p. 132)

2. Data processing methods
- Direct to a excel spreadsheet.

3. Software or instruments needed to interpret the data:
- No specific software is required.

4. Environmental or experimental conditions:
- Samples of three diferent locations are collected during each season of the year.
